Admission Guidelines for K-8th Grade Students
In accordance with the Education Code, Rio Hondo College
will consider for enrollment students under 18 years of age. Qualified
K-8th grade students may enroll in college courses for advanced level study.
Please read the following important information.
Students younger than 9th grade will be admitted if they meet
the exceptional student criteria (highly gifted students with an IQ score above
130). These students may only enroll in college level courses (degree
applicable courses), must meet prerequisites, and must show documentation of
their gifted status and proof of IQ.

Student Advisory
The following application materials are
required for admission:

Complete a Rio Hondo College Application for Admission
(complete in pencil and signed
by parent or guardian).

Submit the Letter of Recommendation filled out
and signed by
the school principal or counselor including:

The specific course requested (e.g. History 143-U.S. History.)

A parent/legal guardian signature.

The signature of the College Dean/Director of the
department of the class the student wants to take. (For example, if the
student wants to take a history class he/she would get the signature of
the Dean of Social Science).

An authentic school seal must be stamped on the letter.

Submit the signed Parent of
Minor Student Advisory.

Complete the Rio Hondo College
Assessment Process if
you plan to enroll in a Math, Reading or English class which has a prerequisite.
