Can I take my test results to another community college?

Answer:
If you will be transferring to another community college after completing a class or classes at Rio Hondo College, you may request a copy of your scores with an accompanying letter to take with you to the other college.  Each college has its own policies regarding the acceptance of scores from another college so you should check with that school in advance.   We do not mail, fax, e-mail or give test results to another college for you, you will need to hand deliver or mail the results yourself.  It is generally advisable that you take an assessment test at each college you attend rather than transferring your scores.  (Note:  Students who we are unable to verify as having completed a class at Rio Hondo College will be charged a $20.00 proctoring fee per test section.)

Do I need to take the assessment test?

Answer:
The majority of students entering Rio Hondo College for the first time will need to take the assessment tests in English, math and reading before being able to meet with a counselor and/or to meet graduation requirements with the following exceptions:

>  Students who have already completed an English, math or reading course at another college may take a copy of their transcripts to the Counseling Office to determine if you have cleared the assessment test requirements.

Students who are taking classes which have a "prerequisite" of English, math or reading must either take the assessment test or have met the required level of study at another college in order to be able to register for a particular class.

(NOTE:  An "advisory" of English, math or reading is the recommended level of comprehension that is needed for success in a particular class but does not prevent you from registering for the class.)

Students with a degree
from a state accredited college are not required to take the assessment test unless it is needed to meet a particular class perquisite requirement.  Please consult with the Counseling office if this applies to you.
