Math Assessment Test Samples

The English composition is evaluated on grammar, sentence structure, punctuation and spelling. You may bring a dictionary to look up the spelling of a word.

This test is used to for determining your initial level of English placement.
(Note: This test is only for students who have not started an English class at Rio Hondo College)

You are allowed to take this test once and challenge this test once as long as you have not started an English class. If you have started or dropped an English class you are no longer eligible to take the test or challenge the test.

What is the difference between the English & ESL Placement Test?
English and ESL Students take the exact same test. The key difference is that the test results of students who indicate that English is their Second Language is that their paper will be scored by an ESL professor.

Reading Practice Test

The Reading Test will determine your vocabulary and reading comprehension skills.
(Note: This test is only for students who have not started a reading class at Rio Hondo College)

Math Assessment Preparation

The Math Assessment Preparation practice is designed to help you determine which of the three math tests you should take based on the number of correct answers. You need to bring this completed practice with you to the assessment test.

NOTES:
* You must know which test you will take before entering the testing room.
* Calculators are not permitted during the test.
* The tests are timed.
