The Television Production program at Rio Hondo is a "hands-on" personalized and highly experiential approach to training in all aspects of the arts and crafts of the moving image, from the aesthetic to the technological. The television production program emphasizes exploration of the student filmmaker’s creative voice through hands-on filmmaking both in the studio and in the field. Students learn all aspects of cinematic storytelling.We believe it is essential for our students to be actively engaged in the digital and telecommunications revolution that is transforming all areas of contemporary culture.  Students are strongly encouraged to experience the full range of artistic expression by taking classes throughout the Arts Division, including graphic design, photography and animation.Our former students are working in the industry in virtually all production roles including: audio design, lighting direction, news and studio camera, engineering, editing, effects,  producing and directing.Currently, we are developing a Digital Arts program with initiatives that range across every program including computer assisted theater design, special effects for film and television, digital restoration, computer animation and video gaming, interactive television, and the development of web based media arts.
