The Writing Workshop will help you improve your writing skills so that you can succeed in college.
More detailed information is printed on the inside of your Writing Workshop Folder; however, these
are some facts that you need to know right away. You must attend your regularly scheduled workshop during the first week of the semester for an orientation. Our instructors will provide you with this and other important procedures.
You must obtain the Writing Workshop materials from either the bookstore or the Writing Workshop:
|
1. Purchase a
handbook, English Simplified by Blanche Ellsworth and John A. Higgins,
published
by Pearson. With the purchase of this
book, Pearson will provide an online program, My Writing
Lab and an access code.
2. A memory
stick or a 3 1/2 inch high density formatted disk can be purchased in the
bookstore.
3. Writing Workshop
Folder will be given to you on the first day of the semester. If you
miss the orientation, ask a staff member for a folder.
The Writing Workshop and your composition class work hand-in-hand. The Workshop is a
place for you to do your English homework. The Writing Workshop is a one-unit course.
It is not a study hall. You are expected to be actively engaged in writing during the entire
time you are logged in.
Always read the white board at the front of
the Workshop when you come in. The white board contains vital information and messages.
Remember to log in and log out every time you come to the Writing Workshop.
If you log in
but fail to log out you will lose your time for that day.
