do I register for the Writing Workshop?
You
can register for the Writing Workshop just like you would any class; use touch
tone registration or go to Admissions and register there.

Where can I find the Writing Workshop?
The
Writing Workshop is located on the 5th floor of the Library. Walk through the
Learning Assistance Center and continue to the back of the library.

What
is the Writing Workshop?
All English 30
and 35 students must be concurrently enrolled in either English 30W or 35W.
The Writing Workshop is a place where you
can do your English homework and receive one-on-one help from an English
instructor.

I
don’t have my Writing Workshop Folder, can I get a conference?
Absolutely! Have the Writing Workshop instructor sign and date
your essay. Keep that essay until you bring your folder to the Workshop. Show
both your folder and essay to the instructor (or any instructor in the Writing
Workshop) or to one of the Instructional Assistants and the signature will be
validated.

How
many hours do I have to put in daily to meet the 54 hours?
During the spring and fall semester you must attend the Writing
Workshop 2 hours a week. Summer sessions: First and Second session students
should attend the workshop 6-8 hours a week in order to meet the time
requirement. Evening session students should attend the workshop 6 weekly
hours.

Can
I get more than one conference signature a day?
No. Only one conference signature is permitted a day; however,
you may meet with a Writing Workshop instructor more than once throughout the
day.

don’t have any work for English; may I work on my Math?
No. Ask a Writing Workshop staff or faculty for a writing
assignment. You may also work on mywritinglab program; ask a staff
member to get
started.

need to make a phone call/go to the restroom; do I have to log out?
Yes! Always remember to log out, even if it’s only for a minute.
Failure to log out may result in loss of time for that day.

have to work with my LAC Tutor on my paper, can I log in?
No, in order to receive credit for your time, you must log in and
stay in the Writing Workshop. You may not log in and work someplace else.

hours do I have to complete?
You must log in a minimum of
54 hours in the attendance
computer for credit (and 5 conferences).

No, if you register for an
English 30 or 35 class during the day, you must register for the workshop during
the day hours also.

schedule to fit in the Workshop?
You have to make a decision. If you take an English class, it’s
required to take the workshop during the same session. You have to drop one
other class or English. You may take your English class and the workshop during
the regular semester.
