Robert Holcomb is a native of Napa, California, where he maintains close ties to his family and friends. In 1994, Robert moved to southern California to attend the University of Southern California, where he studied Spanish Literature and Linguistics, (BA, 1997) and The Teaching of English as a Second Language, (MS, 1998). During the January of 2005, Robert completed a Ph.D., in Education, at Claremont Graduate University. Robert began his teaching career in the Los Angeles Unified School District in 1997 and shortly thereafter started working in Rio Hondo's noncredit ESL program. In 2000, Robert was hired as a full-time faculty member to teach ESL for the Division of Communications and Languages. Since then, he has taught courses in Basic ESL, vocabulary, grammar, Spanish, and a variety of ESL writing courses. In addition to his teaching duties, Robert has maintained departmental and campus-wide involvement, serving as a member of the college’s Academic Senate, coordinating the common final examination for the ESL program, and working with the college’s community-based, noncredit ESL program.

Rod Sciborski began full-time instruction in English at Rio Hondo College in 1975, after 6 years of part-time work at Rio Hondo College and elsewhere. In 1980 he developed the ESL Program and has coordinated the program and taught in it ever since.
