Developmental Delayed Learner (DDL)

According to Section 56040 of Title 5 regulations, the developmentally delayed learner is a student who exhibits the following:

• Potential for measurable achievement in instructional and employment settings

• Below average intellectual functioning

Program Components

Rio Hondo College DSP&S provides the following services for DDL students:

• Note-taking accommodations

• Referrals to on-campus and off-campus resources

• Advocacy to faculty and staff

• Priority registration

• Specialized tutoring when needed

• Test-taking accommodations

• Use of adaptive high tech equipment

• Test proctoring

• Vocational counseling

• Individual counseling/mentoring

• Skills classes in areas of independent living, consumer math and career exploration

• Work-based learning program
