DSP&S
Student’s Computer Usage Contract
In order for the DSP&S program to offer a
high tech student computer lab that is accessible to all
DSP&S students, virus free, and a quiet, worry-free environment, all students
who use the
computer lab must agree to the following guidelines.
- When
you first apply to use the High Tech Lab, you must meet with
the High Tech Specialist, or the Alternate Media Technician
and you may have to take a simple computer and Internet quiz
to check your computer knowledge.
- You
must sign in daily before you may use the computers.
The sign-in sheet for the High Tech Lab is located on the
podium outside the computer lab door. Please fill in the
sign-in sheet completely.
- Do
not turn the computers on or off.
If a particular computer that you need to use is not on, please ask one of the
DSP&S staff to turn on a computer for you.
- Absolutely
NO food or drinks are permitted in the computer lab. NO
EXCEPTIONS!
- Use
of the High Tech Lab is restricted to students who wish to use
a computer. There is no socializing allowed in the lab.
If you
wish to study, alone or in a group, please do so in the Tutoring room or in one
of the Testing rooms if one is available.
-
If all computer stations in the High Tech Lab are occupied
and other students are waiting, use of the computers for
other than school work is limited to 30 minutes.
- If your current classes require you
to use a program on a CD or DVD, please bring the disk to
the DSP&S Alternate Media Technician BEFORE you
use it. The Technician will install it on a specific
computer for your use. PLEASE NOTE: Attempting to
install any program onto a High Tech Lab computer without
permission and the assistance of the DSP&S personnel may
result in suspension of your lab privileges.
- Students may not
use disks from outside the department. If you need to use a
disk that is not kept in the Disabled Student Center, you
must first have the disk checked for viruses by one of the
DSP&S staff members.
- PLEASE
NOTE: NO EMAIL, CHAT ROOMS, INSTANT MESSAGING (I.E.
AIM, MSN, Yahoo, etc.) EVER!
- Students are not
permitted to download any software programs onto a High Tech
Lab computer, and may not alter or delete any programs on a
lab computer. Students may not copy any software products
from a High Tech Lab computer. Doing so violates Rio
Hondo Board Policy 6600 and State and Federal Copywrite
laws.
- Please do not write on the desktops
or computer monitors in the High Tech Lab. If you wish to
write something down, please ask a staff person for scratch
paper.
- Please do not ask for, nor offer assistance
to another student. You or the other student could possibly
delete the information or lock up the computer. Please ask
for assistance from one of the staff.
- DO NOT
PRINT anything that is not related to your current class
work. This means
you may NOT print; email, jokes, graphics, resumes,
internet information that is not part of your class,
etc. Please DO NOT OPEN THE PRINTERS or in any way try and configure them.
If your paper didn’t print the first time you sent
the information, please ask for

from a DSP&S staff person.
- Use of the High
Tech Lab is intended for completion of school related study.

provisions of the Rio Hondo College Board Policy 6600. No
person may use computer resources for any illegal act
including intimidation or creation of an atmosphere of
harassment based upon any protected category.
