Parent Activities Parents of children in the "I'm
Going to College!" program receive a booklet that provides
them with information to guide their child towards a college
education. Chapters include: Parent Involvement Equals
Student Success; Ways Students Can Improve Their Grades; What Your
Child Should Know About College; High School Course Guidelines;
Financial Aid and Scholarship Sources; Educational and Career
Choices; and What's a College Education Worth? To be a
participant in the "I'm Going to College!" program, both parents
and children must sign a contract that stipulates their interest
in going to college and staying in school by taking part in
activities and events planned by the program coordinators
throughout the year. Parent meetings planned throughout the El
Rancho Unified School District for the program encourage parents
to take an active and supportive role in their child's education.
Parent meetings also review information from the parent's handbook
and the agendas are arranged around parent's request for college
information. The next round of parent meetings are scheduled
in the Spring at the various middle schools involved in the
program. Each meeting provides vital information that parents need
now to begin the process of planning for their child's college
education. |
