VISION STATEMENT

An empowered Latino community that   attains high levels of academic achievement and successfully contributes to and influences the social, cultural,  professional, civic, economic and political well being of the total community.

 

MISSION STATEMENT

The Rio Hondo Area Latino Education Council is committed to increasing the success of all Latino students by making educational achievement an action priority of all members and institutions of our total community


GOAL 1:  Increase Latino students’ academic achievement and success.

  • Objective 1:   Develop and implement a Student Leadership and Success  Program at all educational levels

  • Objective 2:   Develop and implement Faculty Professional Development programs to enhance student success

  • Objective 3:   Develop and implement a Parent Education Campaign to encourage greater   parent involvement

GOAL 2:  Increase Latino students’ contribution to and participation in their community

  • Objective 1:     Develop and expand mentoring programs and tutoring opportunities for students at all educational levels

  • Objective 2:     Develop and expand internship opportunities and community service components for high school and college students

  • Objective 3:     Develop and increase students' knowledge of community resources and needs

GOAL 3:  Implement a collaborative multi-organizational approach to enhance the educational success of Latinos in our area. 

  • Objective 1:     Clarify educational challenges and needs faced by students in the Rio Hondo College area

  • Objective 2:     Identify community resources and share expertise and best practices that can be used to address educational challenges.

  • Objective 3:     Strengthen our community/business/education partnership to promote a sense of communal responsibility

  • Objective 4:      Support innovative RHALEC strategies and activities both in the community and between Rio Hondo College and four year institutions that encourage student educational success
