The Santa Fe Springs Education-Business-Community Partnership was formed about a year ago to address the needs of the educational community in the Little Lake and Los Nietos School Districts.  Lake Center, Lakeside and Los Nietos middle schools form the nucleus of the "I'm Going to College!" program in Santa Fe Springs.  This multi-organizational collaborative effort to enhance the educational success and increase the college going rate of all students in this area is one that hopes to have a direct impact on the community.  The main goals of the program are to:

  1. Increase involvement of parents in their child's education.

  2. Enhance parent's ability to serve as educational advoctes and coaches for their children.

  3. Encourage and support students to plan and focus on a college education.

  4. Increase business and community commitment to student success.

  5. Share information on available resources that will help students succeed.

  6. Increase college enrollment and reduce drop out rates in our community.

Rio Hondo College has spearheaded several "I'm Going to College!" programs in the school districts surrounding the college.  Each has developed in their own unique way.
