| SUBE (Students University Bound
Education) Academy, is
a sure-track transfer program designed
to increase student retention and the transfer rate to 4-year institutions.
Its main purpose is to help students succeed in achieving their educational
and personal goals. It offers Rio Hondo College students an opportunity
to excel in their academic and career choices.
Program Benefits: Students in the SUBE Academy
- Define and reach their goals with strong
student and faculty support
- Learn leadership and success skills by
attending Student Leadership and Success Conferences
- Gain opportunities for student networking
- Get personal assistance in the selection of a
major and career choice
- Have a personal SUBE counselor assist with your
educational plan
- Be a part of the Rio Hondo College Mentoring
program to insure their success
- Take special tours to 4-year institutions
- Have access to laptop computers using a
check-out system
- Receive help in applying for scholarships,
internships or other programs
- Get assistance in obtaining information to help
finance education
- Receive special recognition when they are ready
to transfer
- One on one math tutoring to optimize your
success
Program Requirements:
To
be considered a SUBE student
-
A student must plan to be enrolled full-time at Rio Hondo College (12
units) throughout the regular academic year
- A
student must be eligible for or have taken English 35, Math 30, and
Reading 23.
- A student must be available to attend
transfer, career, financial aid and other informational workshops
- Attend both Fall and Spring Student
Leadership and Success Conferences
- Meet with the SUBE counselor at least
once a semester
- A
student must have a college GPA of 2.75 or a high school GPA of 2.5.
- Attend a mandatory program orientation
- Put a career plan together by either
taking COUN 151 or visiting the Career Center
- A student must plan to transfer to a
four-year institution.
