Rio Hondo College was established in 1963.
The student body has increased greatly over the years.
In 2004, Rio Hondo College asked area residents to vote “Yes” to pass Measure A, to provide much needed Bond funding to renovate the main campus and to build new satellite locations including the El Monte Educational Center.
The El Monte Educational Center, also known as EMEC, was completed in March 2013.
On April 1, 2013, we opened the doors to start our first 8-week Spring 2013 semester with 9 credit courses and 1 Continuing Education computer class. The center has grown since then and now offers close to 30 credit courses and half a dozen free Continuing Education classes. Our classes are available morning to night at convenient times for all; with plenty of parking (always free) and close access to classrooms and surrounding places to eat. We would love to answer any questions; and even offer a tour of the facility to all students, surrounding residents, and community partners!
EMEC is committed towards contributing to the Greater El Monte Community and surrounding cities by providing access to education and related resources.
