What are the requirements for the GO RIO program?
In order to qualify for GO RIO a student must be enrolled with 12 or more units, have no outstanding debts or holds with the college, and sign a pledge form promising to maintain 12 units throughout the entire semester. Upon signing the pledge form and having units verified at the Photo ID Window, you will receive a “U-Pass” sticker that will be affixed to your Photo ID and serve as your Semester bus pass.
How much is the GO RIO transit fee?
Students are assessed a $9.00 fee for GO RIO at the time of enrollment each semester at RHC. Once the $9.00 fee has been paid, a full time student is eligible to pick up the U-Pass sticker for the fall and spring semesters.
Where can I pick up a “U-Pass” Sticker?
U-Pass Stickers are available at the Admissions and Records photo ID window located just outside of SS-120.
What bus companies/transit agencies honor the GO RIO pass?
GO RIO U-Passes can be used on El Monte Transit, Foothill Transit, L.A. County Public Works’ Sunshine Shuttle, Metro, Montebello Bus Lines, and Norwalk Transit.
Can I use the GO RIO U-Pass at any time or is it only valid for travel to and from Rio Hondo College?
The GO RIO U-Pass is valid on Foothill Transit, Metro, Montebello Bus Lines, and Sunshine Shutter at any time during regular operating hours (including weekends). Norwalk Transit and El Monte Transit honor the GO RIO pass Monday through Friday only.
I had to drop a class and I’m now below 12 units, what should I do?
If you drop below 12 units at any time during the semester, the GO RIO pass will automatically be deactivated from your Photo ID. If your GO RIO pass is deactivated, please HOLD ON to your GO RIO U-Pass because it can still be used at a later time if you qualify for the GO RIO program again at a later time.
Is GO RIO available to part-time students (below 12 units)?
Students who are registered between 9 and 11.5 units are eligible, but must pay an “opt-in” fee of $50 to obtain the GO RIO pass.
I lost my GO RIO U-Pass sticker. How can I obtain a new one?
Students who lost a GO RIO U-Pass sticker can request a new sticker at Photo ID Window.
