Mission Statement

The Rio Hondo College GEAR UP Program: “I’m Going to College!” is committed to making a positive difference for the Madrid Middle School and Mountain View High School students and their families by academically preparing them for successful completion of post-secondary education in collaboration with El Monte community partnerships, including fostering a sustainable college-going culture within their families and the community as a whole.

Program Description

GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is a federally funded program designed to significantly increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education.  The Rio Hondo College GEAR UP: I’m Going to College Program provides academic services and activities to students at Madrid Middle School and Mountain View High School.
