Rio
Hondo College should continue to offer GO RIO to all full-time
students. It saves students a lot of money because gas prices
are high. Also some student's don't work or make much money and
they benefit from the GO RIO program by using the money they
would have otherwise spent on transportation for more important
things like books, tuition, and school supplies. It also helps
the environment by having people drive their cars less therefore
producing less greenhouse gases in the air.
-
Yes, we all
should have it, if something happens to our cars or [they] break
down then we should have it and use it. With the gas prices, it
is even better just take the bus; they don’t take long and its
very convenient.
-
Yes! It's a
great benefit for students. Rio Hondo may also get students to
come to Rio instead of other schools because [Rio] offers
cheap/free transportation.
-
Yes, because
most of the full-time students don’t work or work part-time.
It’s beneficial and saves them on gas … and [saves them] from
morning traffic sometimes.
-
The program
is essential for those of us without personal transportation.
Not having to worry about bus fare for the many trips to and
from the campus ensures that we attend all of our scheduled
classes.
-
Yes. It helps
me get to school and since I live in a low income home it is
very nice to be able to take the bus for free. It helps me in
other ways as well, such as using the money I would have used
for the bus towards lunch or book money.
-
Yes, I
believe GO RIO program should continue, because it helps
students who do not have mobile transportation attend Rio Hondo
College. It would help students from low economic background
find a way to attend college. Also, with the gas price going up
so high I think students wouldn't mind taking public
transportation.
-
Rio Hondo
College should definitely continue to offer 'GO RIO' to all
full-time students because it allows students to concentrate on
their studies, rather than stressing out about finding a parking
space and whether or not they're going to make it to class on
time (especially in the morning). Finances earned from bus fare
savings can be set aside for a rainy day, invested on books,
and/or energy snacks in between classes.
-
I think that
the GO RIO should still be offered to students. I really like
the fact that Rio Hondo offers this for full-time students.
There have been many times when my husband’s car broke down, but
I was still able to make it to school on time because I had the
GO RIO pass. Emergencies happen and I would be willing to pay
two dollars for the sticker per semester.
-
I think that
Rio is doing a great job! By offering the GO RIO bus pass, it
saves students a lot of money especially now with gas prices on
cars.
-
I believe
that Rio Hondo should continue to offer the Go Rio to all full
time students because it benefits us in many ways. One of them
is by saving gas when you have a car and using the bus instead
of your car to school and another reason is because I, like many
other students who don't have a car, saved money since we used
the bus to come to school. The money I saved I used it to buy my
books for the semester which really help a lot.
-
Yes, because
there are some students that use the bus for their
transportation. For example, I used it more in the fall semester
and less in spring because I finally got a car in Feb of 07.
But after March I took the bus again because I got in accident
and [the car] is in the shop and as of today still is so it was
very useful and helpful to have the pass and a way to save a
little money.
-
Yes, the GO
RIO pass should continue to stay in effect for full-time
students. Classes are expensive as it is. To have to worry about
how you’re going to get to class and how much that will cost is
too inconvenient. Full-time students should be rewarded for
their hard work and determination.
-
Yes, it is a
very important asset. I wouldn't take so many units if i had to
worry about how to get home. It takes me an hour and a half to
get to campus but I do it anyways. It gives me extra time to
study, do homework, and read - plus it helps with my little
problem of getting up in the mornings.
-
It's an easy
way of paying upfront. You don't need to worry about buying the
sticker for the following month. You don't have to pay an extra
25 cents to get an inter - agency bus from an MTA agency. It was
great feeling.
-
Yes, because
it cut down the traffic on campus.
-
I feel this
is a very good program and it should be offered to students who
carry 6 units or more. It is very difficult for students to
ride the bus and in July [Metro officials] are raising the fares
to $1.50 and $5.00 all day pass staring July 1, 2007, So Rio
should assist students who carry 6 units also. They are making
an effort to improve their lives and we should help students….
Thank you very much for this program I really appreciate it.
Being a single mother and receiving welfare for my children….
every little bit helps.
-
I have
attended Rio Hondo for a short time now. Ever since the GO RIO
pass came out I have noticed an increasing amount of students
taking the bus. Also, gas prices always come into effect and
more now than ever.
-
I believe
that GO RIO is very important in giving students more of a
reason to go to Rio Hondo College. Go RIO takes away the burden
of transportation expenses. Many low income students don't have
their own transportation and without it they would be struggling
to walk to school. GO RIO has also been great in helping people
with learning how to take the bus and learning the routes.
Overall the bus pass that is given to full time students is a
blessing.
-
Yes,
definitely. Throughout my four years here at Rio, I have always
taken the bus to school. I come from Temple City which by car is
only 15 minutes away, however, by bus it ranges from 50 minutes
to 2 hours depending on the time of day. It is definitely worth
it to keep this GO RIO program. Before this program was created,
I had to go down to East Los Angeles off of Ford St. and apply
for a Metro bus pass. This meant I had to fill out an
application, give them a copy of my full time enrollment at Rio,
pay $3, give them a picture, and most importantly FIND
TRANSPORTATION OVER THERE. Then, you have to wait to receive the
pass and go to your city hall and pay $20 a month for a bus
pass. AND I'M THE LUCKY ONE. Most students didn't do this. They
either paid the $3 for a day pass every day or paid each time
they boarded the bus. Although I had a monthly pass, it was
still inconvenient because it was only good for the Metro and
sometimes I needed to take the Foothill or it was more
convenient to take the Foothill. So, this GO RIO program is
awesome. Seriously. I am unaware if more students are being
issued bus passes than are those who actually use them. For
instance, if I had a car and drove to school and went full time,
I would still go and get a bus pass from GO RIO because a.) its
free b.) you never know when you might need it.
-
Yes
Rio Hondo College should continue with the GO RIO pass. Since I
have obtained my GO RIO pass, it is less stress to find bus
money. I must take 2-3 buses to attend Rio and the pass is
convenient. As a matter of fact, I have brought my gpa up
because the GO RIO helps me attend Rio without worries. PLEASE
KEEP THE PASS.
