Position: LOCKSMITH – Facilities Services Department
Salary: Salary Range 33 – $22.35/Hourly
Starting Date: Rio Hondo College is currently seeking applicants for part-time, temporary, hourly locksmith positions on an as needed basis.
Position Information: Under the direction of the Operations and Maintenance Manager, perform skilled locksmithing work in the repair, maintenance and installation of locks; cut new or duplicate keys; install and repair door hardware. Assure the security and safety of campus and District equipment and facilities through proper maintenance of door locks and closures. E Install and adjust door locks, panic hardware, cabinet locks and other locking devices. E Repair, install and adjust doors, door closers, tumbler, springs and other hardware including electric spikes and parking lot gates. E Change lock combinations as necessary; cut new or duplicate keys; key and rekey locks. E Maintain record control and key room for campus security. E Maintain operation of burglar alarms. E Train and provide work direction to others as assigned. E Fabricate replacement parts for obsolete locks. E Assist in performing other skilled maintenance duties as assigned. E Operate a variety of tools and equipment utilized in performing work as required. E Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination equivalent to: sufficient training and experience to demonstrate journey-level skill in the locksmith trade.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid and insurable California driver’s license.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work includes indoor and outdoor environment; subject to lifting.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of: Methods, materials, terminology, tools and equipment used in locksmith work. Variety of locks available and the best use for each type. Record keeping techniques. Health and safety regulations. Basic record-keeping techniques. Ability to: Perform skilled locksmithing work in the repair, maintenance and installation of locks. Change lock combinations as necessary. Cut new or duplicate keys and key and rekey locks. Operate a vehicle observing legal and defensive driving practices. Understand and follow oral and written directions. Work independently with little direction. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
