Position: PIANO ACCOMPANIST – Hourly as needed

POSITION INFORMATION: A Piano Accompanist provides piano accompaniment for music classes, choral groups, soloists and performances as required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of experience accompanying dancers, choral groups, vocal soloists, or similar music work. Formal study of the piano may be substituted for the required experience on a year by year basis.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
· Fundamentals of piano playing
· Music theory, harmony, rhythm, composition, transition, and tempo
· Meaning of musical terms, signs, and abbreviations
· Popular, semi-classical, light opera, art songs and classical music
· Play at sight with accuracy and feeling, popular, semi-classical, light opera, art songs, and classical music
· Improvise and adapt music
· Follow a soloist or a conductor in performing a musical score
· Work effectively with instructional personnel and students
AUDITION PROCESS: Candidates will be required to demonstrate the above proficiency through an audition and interview process.
