Making the best of your self-paced course using the textbook, CD’s and on-line resources.

If you bought the textbook as packaged by the bookstore your package contains the textbook, lecture CD’s and an access code for the online component of the course.

  • CD’s of lectures on all topics in the course

These will help you to study at home and get instruction from the CD. You can watch these at 3am when the MSC is closed.

  • My Math Lab Software package

To use this great package, you go online to Coursecompass.com. The package includes an access code that you use together with the course code which is provided by the MSC.

Once you have signed up and installed the software you can

    • Watch instructor videos
    • Get summaries of chapters on power point slides
    • Do practice homework
    • Have examples explained in detail
    • Find out what you still need to study through “My Study Plan”
    • Take your quizzes online at home
    • Take practice tests to get ready for the real thing.

  • Testing

To pass the course you must take a series quizzes and tests.

Quizzes can be taken two ways

1.      At the MSC in the grading room on paper. If you don’t pass you will have to see the instructor.

2.      Online. If you don’t get 80% or more, you can retake the quiz. Be sure to study your errors before you retake the quiz. (If you take it too many times without passing, you might be asked to take quizzes in the MSC only.)

After you have passed the quiz online, you must print out the quiz summary and bring it to MSC grading station. Unless you have this print out, you are not allowed to take the next test. Please take quizzes and then come and take a test. Take the quizzes and tests in the order in which they are in the syllabus. Only Tests count toward your grade.

Tests must be taken at the MSC in person.

If you need help with any of the features please feel free to come to the MSC and get help from a tutor.
