Academic Excellence Workshops and Student Clustering - Whenever possible MESA students sign up together for the same section of the core courses. The Mesa program facilitates this by offering early registration for its participants. This allows students in the program to study together and support each other.
Academic Excellence Workshops (AEW) are extra sessions that MESA students participate in to become more familiar with the material, develop successful study habits. AEW's have been proven to lead students to better grades and more success.

MESA Orientation Courses - Every student who enters MESA at Rio Hondo college participates in a MESA orientation. This short course introduces the components and requirements of the program and builds community. These orientations are given in the week before the semester starts in August and January (tentative).

In the near future Counseling 151 with emphasis on Careers in Math, Science and Engineering will be added as a transferable general education course.
