Men's Golf Coach - Ron Eastman
Head Coach Ron Eastman enters his
8th
season as head coach in 2009.
Coach Eastman was Captain of the Rio Hondo Golf team in
1994, helping the team to a spot in the Southern Cal Regional Championships. He
returned to Rio Hondo after a Collegiate Golf Career at Cal State Dominguez Hills where he competed for 2 years at
the NCAA Division II level, traveling and competing in collegiate
tournaments in Hawaii, Oregon, and Northern California.
After graduating he served as the assistant golf coach for Cal State
Dominguez Hills in 1997 and Rio Hondo College from 1998-2001. He completed his Masters degree from Azusa Pacific University.
Coach Eastman also served as the Boys Head Golf Coach at St. Paul High School in
Santa Fe Springs from 2000-01.
Coach Eastman is a golf professional with over
24 years
of playing experience and private instruction. Coach Eastman learned the golf
swing under the watchful eye of 1934 & 1938 PGA Champion Paul Runyan. His playing experience
includes USGA, Nationwide, and Golden State Tour events. Coach Eastman plays at a high
skill level and has shot personal low rounds in the 60's.
Coach Eastman resides in Whittier with
his wife Ai and their four children.
The goals for the Rio Hondo Golf program include:
Academic Success and Scholarship opportunities, Skills Development, Community
Participation and Awareness, and Team Championships.
