Men's Soccer Head Coach - Orlando Brenes

If you are interested in the Soccer program at Rio Hondo please
call coach Brenes at 562-463-7402. Rio offers many soccer classes and it
is recommended that students enroll in the spring and summer and make contact
with the coaches as soon as possible.
Coach Orlando Brenes, a graduate of Whittier College, is the Director of
Coaching for both the Men's and Women's Soccer programs at Rio Hondo College. He brings
with him a vast amount of knowledge in the sport as a player and as a coach. Named
All-American during his playing days at Whittier College, he also holds a U.S.S.F.
Coaching license and is a clinician for the Athletic Amateur Foundation.
Coach Brenes comes to Rio Hondo via East Los Angeles College where he established the
Huskies as a perennial power compiling an impressive 158-16-13 community college record.
His teams won 8 conference titles in 9 seasons, along with the State Championship in 1990,
and reached the state semi-finals in 1994.
Orlando is a full-time P.E. instructor at Bell Gardens High School and also coaches their
varsity soccer team. He has led his teams to three C.I.F. championships (1984, 1991 and
1994) and 15 league championships with an outstanding record of 256-50-35
Coach Brenes is ready to take on the challenge of building both the men's and women's
soccer programs. He has hired quality personnel to assist him in; Jim Mitroft, Ruben
Gonzales, Manny Rodriguez, Mike Asfull, and Gary Hurtarte, all of whom have committed
themselves to building the program to the highest level.

Oseguera- This will be Bob's sixth year with Rio Hondo College. Bob was an
assistant with Orlando in 91-93 when we won the state championship at ELAC.
Bob is also the girls varsity coach at Bell Gardens HS and is in his 7th year as
head coach. He has also been the head boys All-Star coach for the
south team for the past six years. Bob resides in Huntington Beach with his wife
Nancy. Bob's son Mike is the Asst. Soccer Coach at Cal State Fullerton. Bob is
also a South All-stars Coach.
