Kathy
Pudelko was hired in 1996 to reconstruct the Women's
Basketball program at Rio Hondo. Kathy is a graduate of
the University of Northern Colorado. She started her
high school coaching career in Wyoming and won 9
regional titles and 3 State championships in 5 years.
Kathy moved to California to complete her masters degree
in physical education at Cal State University at
Northridge (CSUN) where she worked with the women's
basketball program. While she was finishing her degree
work, CSUN began their move to Division I from Division
II. This experience would be of great value to her future
athletes.
After graduation, she took over the program at Glendale
College, Glendale, CA, where she coached for 5 years. At
Glendale, she rebuilt the program and in 1995 they made
their first play-off appearance and their highest league
finish in the history of the program.
Rio Hondo Women's
Basketball has produced 3 conference champions, 2
All-State players, and 1 Honorable Mention Kodak
All American and players who have transfer to Chapman College, San
Francisco State, Chico State, Cal Lutheran, St. Edwards.
TX, Dominican, CA, Southern Mississippi, Claremont,
Pomona Pitzer, Cal State LA, Cal State Monterrey.

Assistant
Coach Jose Herrera
Jose
Herrera will be entering his 4th season as an Assistant
Coach at Rio Hondo College. Although he is one of the
many young coaches here on campus, Jose is no stranger
to coaching. He is well known around the high school
coaching community and is a valuable asset to the
program. You will find Jose at many high school games
during the year, he is and avid recruiter. Jose has a
great desire to help our student/ athletes
academically, graduating on time is one of the
programs main goals.
Jose
had a successful high school career at Downey High
School where he played against many of today's NBA
players such as Tayshaun Prince, Baron Davis, Tyson
Chandler, and Jason Kapono. After graduation Jose was
hired at Downey High as the Girls' Assistant Varsity
Basketball coach . He spent 3 years coaching along side
Andrew Craig where they successfully reached the
play-offs all 3 years. Jose is currently finishing his
Bachelor's Degree at Cal State L.A. and will graduate
this spring. He is looking forward to obtaining his
Masters Degree and building a career in coaching
basketball that will lead to a full time college
position.
