The Roadrunners came out strong by scoring an early goal in the 3rd minute. Liliana Torres's free kick blast from the top of the penalty box put Rio ahead 2-0, it  was Torres's 3rd goal of the year.  The final goal for the Rio Hondo squad came in the 40th minute mark and was a well placed corner taken by Megan Taylor to Alex Marin who's shot from the nearpost beat the Desert GK for her 7th conference goal. Rio Hondo took 19 shots.  Jess Moreale played the first half in the net for Rio Hondo to keep Desert scoreless.  Caitlyn Weilt played the 2nd half and College of the Desert finished a goal in the 87th  minute to make the final score 3-1.  Rio Hondo is now 6-2-2 in conference play with two games remaining.  Friday, November 6th is a home game against Antelope Valley at 1pm.

A new season. A new attitude. A new beginning.

The Roadrunner women's soccer team returns 9 players, including 5 All Foothill League honorees from last season and adds 18 new freshman, most of them celebrate All-League or All-CIF honors from their high school careers.  Joining them will be several transfer athletes from the junior college ranks and four year universities.

With a year more experience under their belts the sophomore class is expected to lead the way into the competitive preseason schedule to prepare the team for Foothill Conference play.

The coaching staff boasts three coaches who won CIF Championships while head coaching their high school teams.  Roadrunner head coach Jennifer Tanaka, assistant Amanda Broussard, and new assistant coach Baltazar Rodriguez all won CIF Championships for their respective programs.  Former Brazilian professional player Salvador Filho returns for his 2nd season on staff and 2008 Rio Hondo captain, Amanda Garza joins as an assistant coach for the new year.
