Coach Salvador Filho –
Assistant Coach
Coach
Filho return for his 2nd year on the Roadrunner staff
with his wealth of soccer experience and a deep passion for the
sport of soccer. He grew up in Brazil and played soccer
professionally before coming to the United States. His
understanding of the game and love of the sport are second to
none.
He
has coached professionally in Brazil, Japan and now the United
States. He has coached at the high school and youth club level
here in Southern California. He is fluent in Portuguese,
Spanish, English and Japanese.
Coach
Filho’s family is full of successful players, his son is
playing soccer professionally in Costa Rica and two daughters
that are currently living in Rio de Janiero playing for the same
Brazilian club Salvador played for as youth and professional –Flamengo,
with one of the recently being called into the U-20 Brazilian
National Futsal team.
Coach Amanda Krukow
(Broussard) –Assistant Coach
In
her second year with the Rio Hondo Roadrunners, Amanda Krukow
comes to this team with many years of coaching on her resume.
She was formerly the head coach at La Serna High School winning
multiple league championships and led her team to the school’s
first CIF Championship in 2008. During Krukow’s last five years
as head coach her team has a record of 106-19-10, and she has
been named CIF-SS Coach of the Year twice in 2005 and 2008.
Coach Krukow graduated from La Serna in 2000, and played on the
celebrated Lady Lancer Varsity Soccer team her four years. As a
player, after high school Krukow went on to play Division I
soccer at Cal State Northridge as a goalkeeper. Coach Broussard
earned her B.S. in Athletic Training from Cal State Fullerton in
2005.
Krukow has been a goalkeeper trainer for 11 years now, and has
recently earned her NSCAA Goalkeeping Diploma and a USSF
Nationial “D” License.
Coach
Baltazar Rodriguez –Assistant Coach
Coach
Rodriguez joins the Roadrunners staff for his first season and
brings a great deal of enthusiasm to the program. He joins Rio
Hondo with years of experience at St. John Bosco High School and
East LA College, as an assistant and goalkeeper coach for both
programs.
In
2006, Coach Rodriguez started the Boys and Girls program at
Annenberg High School in Los Angeles . In 2009 the Annenberg
Boys team won the CIF Championship under his leadership. Every
Varsity Senior under Coach Rodriguez has continued to higher
education since he began the program.
Coach
Rodriguez also worked in special education for four years and is
expecting to complete a combined teaching credential and BA from
Cal State Los Angeles in the Fall 2009.
Coach
Amanda Garza – Volunteer Assistant
A
first year coach, Amanda played for the Roadrunners in 2006 and
2008. She now joins the program as an assistant coach, keeping
her enthusiasm and commitment to the game of soccer at Rio
Hondo. Coach Garza is an active reserve in the Marines since
2005 and is currently completing courses in deaf studies. She
is expecting to complete her AA degree and to continue to pursue
a Bachelors degree in deaf studies.
