Hills with a specialty in Athletic Training, Rory completed his internship under
Head Certified Athletic Trainer, Willda Bingham. He had the privilege of
supervising student athletes for soccer, basketball and baseball while being
named Head Athletic Training Student in 91’-92’. Rory also worked part-time for
three years at Los Angeles Harbor College working with football and men’s
basketball.
After working at a physical
therapy clinic and a high school, Rory received the Head Athletic Trainer
position at Pasadena City College and went on to receive his Master in Education
from Azusa Pacific University. Upon completing his Masters, he took over the
Community First Aid and Safety courses at Pasadena. During that time he
volunteered for various positions within his Athletic Training profession, such
as: Regional Director (CATA), Public Relations Chairperson (CATA), Webmaster (CATA),
Conference Representative (CCCATA), Vice-President (CCCATA), President (CCCATA),
Governmental Affairs (CATA).
Employed full-time at El Camino
College for the past five years, Rory served as the Senior Athletic Trainer
until being hired as the Interim Athletic Director in Fall 2005. He continues
to teach at various colleges as an adjunct professor. Rory has been a professor
at Loyola Marymount for the past three years and currently instructs the
Therapeutic Modalities course.
He continues to be active in
athletic training student education, and recently served as the President of the
Community College Athletic Trainers, and a member of the ethnic diversity
committee of the Far West Athletic Trainers. Rory is a member of the management
council for the California Community College Athletic Association and has
assisted in writing legislation on minimum levels of medical care at the
community college level.
He is again involved in
Governmental Affairs for the California Athletic Trainers Associate. Rory was
born and raised in the Southern California area and currently lives in the South
Bay with his Wife Gina and daughters, Malia and Kaila.
