Programs
in Child Development…are designed to teach about the physical, mental,
emotional, and social growth and development, and the care and guidance
of children. Many programs intend to provide occupational preparation
for jobs in public and private child care centers and preschool
settings, or for jobs as para-professionals assistants in schools…In
addition to preparing individuals for occupations in child care, youth
programs, and preschool education, programs may provide study in
behavioral research methods. Child Development also trains for
before/after school care for school age children. Child Development is
an excellent undergraduate major for elementary teachers and school
administrators.
