Drug Education and Prevention Certificate of Achievement
|
The Drug Education and Prevention Certificate is designed to provide the
student with a broad knowledge of substance abuse and dependence, from a basic
understanding of factors relating to the prevention, etiology, and treatment
of drug problems, to the development of skills for working with individuals
affected by or at-risk for such difficulties. In addition to studying the
current status of approaches to minimizing the effects of substance misuse,
students will develop case management and group leadership skills. The
certificate prepares students for entry-level positions working with
drug-affected populations, but would also be of benefit to anyone seeking to
develop a greater understanding of the drug dependent, as might be required of
those working in education, the penal system, and in social services.
