FLEX ACTIVITIES
Visual & Performing Arts - Approved

The purpose of the flexible calendar is to provide time for faculty to participate in development activities that are related to staff, student, and instructional improvement. All activities must

Be non-compensated
Be above and beyond regular contractual duties, and
Take place outside of normally scheduled hours/class

Title 5, Article 2, Flexible Calendar Operations, Section 55724

1.	Course Instruction and evaluation
	Conferences & workshops Classroom presentation outside of normal hours
2.	Staff development, in-service training and instructional improvement
	Service on advisory boards Professional research Performing Mounting personal exhibitions Attending performances of theatre, music and other arts Attendance at art galleries, cultural sites and museums Directing performances, receiving private lessons or classes
3.	Program and new course curriculum or learning resource development and evaluation
	New course development
4.	Student personnel services
	Non-compensated private lessons or classes Attending High School recruitment - college information days
5.	Learning resource services
	Learning new technology Learning a new language
6.	Related activities, such as student advising, guidance, orientation, matriculation services, and student, faculty and staff diversity
	Volunteer professional services Adjudicating Rehearsals Preparation for Exhibits and Shows
7.	Departmental or division meetings, conferences and workshops, and institutional research
	Class in other subjects College research
8.	Other duties as assigned by the district
	Extra art programs College related facility research - outside of normal work hours Department related facility research Service on advisory boards (non-union) Community volunteerism that relates to RHC or your discipline
9.	The necessary supporting activities for the above - Not to exceed 6 hrs/semester for Full-time Faculty and 3 hrs/semester for Part-time Faculty
	Community volunteerism that does not have a link to RHC or your discipline
* *Part-time Faculty may receive FLEX credit for attending department meetings and course revisions*
