FLEX ACTIVITIES

The purpose of the flexible
calendar is to provide time for faculty to participate in
development activities that are related to staff, student,
and instructional improvement. All activities must
- Be non-compensated
- Be above and beyond regular
contractual duties, and
- Take place outside of
normally scheduled hours/class

Course Instruction and
evaluation |

- Enrollment in physical activities related to
ergonomics, language courses and classes that relate
to teaching and evaluation, particularly in the
content of library courses
- Lectures, conferences and workshops related to
District, College or other faculty-related matters
- Library orientations to Virtual College students

Staff
development, in-service training and instructional
improvement |

Attendance or presentations at conferences, workshops,
meetings, courses and seminars for librarians and
related areas that include but are not limited to the
following:
- Orientations to New Faculty
- FLEX Day, at Rio Hondo College
- Staff Development workshops, meetings at Rio Hondo
College
- ALA - American Library Association
- ACRL - Association of College and Research
Libraries
- CCL - Council of Chief Librarians
- CLA - California Library Association
- CARL - California Academic and Research Libraries
- LOEX - Library Orientation Exchange

group projects, research, coursework and other
academic matters
- Participation in campus events that include but
are not limited to:
- Women's History Month
- Rio Hondo Information Booth
- Conferences, exhibits, lectures and other
cooperative activities
- Local high schools/districts/communities/libraries
