4th Annual Fall Formation Retreat
"Reconnecting Who You Are with What You Do"
|
When:
|
Friday, November 2nd, 8:30-5:30 -
Due to
the nature of the retreat, participants are asked to
make plans to be present for the entire session
(Applications due Friday, October 5th) |
|
Where:
|
Clarke Estate, Santa Fe Springs |
|
What:
|
With
the accelerating demands of life, it is dangerously
easy to lose sight of why we entered the field of
education. However, if we take the time to
reconnect who we are with what we do, we can
approach our lives and our work with renewed
passion, commitment, and integrity.
Formation is an educational movement based on the
work of Parker Palmer with the following assumption:
- Everyone
on campus is an educator
-
To
remain engaged & effective in our work, we require opportunities
for renewal and reconnection to ourselves, our colleagues and
our vocation
This
retreat will use tools such as journal writing,
poetry, music, individual reflection and small group
sharing to encourage insight and revitalization. |
|
Who:
|
Open to All Staff - A
combination of faculty, staff & administrators is
encouraged!
We are especially interested in reaching out
to those who haven’t attended a Formation Retreat before.
Past retreat participants are welcome to apply, but will
have a greater chance for acceptance if they recruit a new
person from Rio Hondo who this work speaks to. Fall
participants will have priority to attend an overnight
weekend retreat currently planned for Spring 2008. |
Facilitated by Katie O’Brien, Sheila Lynch & Bill Grevatt, Ed.D
