Hondo will continue to sponsor access for all Faculty
and Staff to use

This online, self-paced tutorial system created
specifically for California Community College
faculty is a fantastic resource on a wide-range of
topics such as creating syllabi, understanding
community college students, learning theory,
teaching methodology, and classroom management.
Although originally designed for part-time and new
community college faculty, all are invited to
utilize this system. Earn up to 24 hours of FLEX!

local training/conference attendance.
Maximum Award: $200.00
Application Process: Prior
to the event, submit an approved travel
requisition and a brief statement to
Staff Development describing how this
activity will improve your professional
skills.
If approved, fill out required paperwork
for reimbursement within 30 days.

Healthy Home Workshop" -Is
your home a Healthy Home? Discover how
common household chemicals may gradually
be making you and your family sick and
why your children are at an even higher
risk. As John Beaulieu has stated,
“Scientists and doctors are discovering
that there is a connection between our
increased incidence of chronic illnesses
like cancer, asthma, ADD, nervous
disorders, birth defects, infertility,
and a host of other problems.” Which
products, which chemicals?

will discuss cleaning and personal
care products and how exposure through
ingestion, inhalation and absorption can
have long and short-term effects on you
and your family's health.

series of gatherings with colleagues to

We will meet 3 times locally throughout
the semester. Sessions will use
tools such as film, music, poetry,
individual and small group reflection to
encourage reflection and how to bring
our best selves to our work.

Classified Staff Workshop - "Outlook
2003" - Microsoft Outlook is the
e-mail application used by the majority
of businesses also providing calendar,
task, and contact management features.
The possible topics are creating &
sending messages, using attachments,
working with contacts, creating folders,
working with multiple attachments, using
the calendaring feature of Outlook.
Within Outlook, personalizing emails by
using stationery and signatures, and
using contacts to share, link and
communicate information.

FLEX Obligation
Deadline May 1st!

Remember all full time and part-time
faculty need to have provided the FLEX
office with documentation of having
completed their FLEX obligation for the
2007-2008 year by Tuesday, May 1st.
While it is fine to project out
activities until June 30th of
2008, to avoid a reduction in your final
paycheck, documentation of all completed
and projected activities must be
received by the FLEX office by this
deadline. Self-Documentation forms and
pre-approved FLEX activity lists are

“Women Hold Up Half
the Sky “–
Staff Development is pleased to fund
registration for up to 10 staff members
to attend this annual American
Association of Community College Women
Conference entitled “The Journey
Continues: Planning Today for a
Successful Tomorrow” The first 10
staff who indicate an interest and hand
in a completed Travel Authorization
(with a supervisor and Vice-President’s
signature) to the Staff Development
office will receive funding.
