RHC COUNSELOR GUIDE FOR ADVANCED PLACEMENT OR COURSE CREDIT:

Questions to Ask the Student:
1. When was the course completed?
The student may apply for credit if no more than 2 years have passed since successful completion of course. Please check articulation date.

2. Where was the course completed?
Please make sure that the course was completed at a participating high school/adult school/ROP center. Please refer to the articulation agreements.

3. What was the grade received in the course?
If the student is applying for credit, then you must verify the grade for the course completed since in many cases the student will actually be granted the grade received for the course.

There are several ways of verifying grades:

-If the student completed the Articulation Completion Form (found in this handbook), the instructor assigning the grade must complete Part 2 and designate the grade.

-If the student does not have the Articulation Completion Form, Part 2 completed, then the student needs to supply a transcript or grade card verifying the grade. You may verify the grade, complete Part 2 and submit white copy to the Tech Prep office .

-If the student does not have the Articulation Completion Form completed, please help student fill out the form, verify the grade and submit the white copy to the Tech Prep office.

-If the student does not have transcripts or grade card available, please refer them to Tech Prep Program Coordinator. That person will be responsible for verifying the grade for course.

4. Are you applying for credit?
It is important that the student be informed that they can only apply for credit during the semester they are registered for at least one course ( this course must not be the course they are applying for credit).

Refer to the Credit By Examination Procedures found in this handbook. Please assist the student in completing the Credit By Examination Form and attach a copy of the grade card or transcript. Make copy of the Credit by Examination Form and submit it along with copy of the Articulation Completion
Form to the Tech Prep Program.

If you have questions, please contact the Tech Prep office. You may also refer students to the Tech Prep Office and advisement will be given to the student in completing the forms and applying for credit.
