Sign up for
Counseling 151 – “Career Exploration and Life Planning.”
Take a semester and learn about the world of work and career options
in a structured and informative way.

Participate in
workshops held in the Career Development Center.
The Career Development Center hosts a variety of monthly workshops
and presentations that are free! Pick up a copy of our monthly
calendar
of events in room SS250 or check it out
online.

Ask about industry
field trips.
The Career Development Center organizes field trips to local
industry sites to help students envision and experience company
career paths.

Use required
general education coursework to explore classes and topics you
wouldn’t normally think to take.
The purpose of general education is to give students exposure to a
broad range of subjects and to create a more “well-rounded”
individual.

Become involved in
campus activities.
Becoming involved in student activities will expose you to
activities and individuals that can influence your decision-making.

Do volunteer work
or consider an internship.
Volunteer work and internships are a great way to gain
career-related experience and to build work-related skills. Visit
the Career Development Center to learn more about these
opportunities.

Conduct an
information interview or job shadow.
Information interviews and job shadows allow a student to interview
and/or observe a person who is in a career that is interesting to
him/her. The Career Development Center can assist you in locating an
individual to conduct these activities with.

Sign up for the
Career Quest Program in the Career Development Center.
Career Quest is an excellent short-term program designed to assist
students obtain job awareness and job search skills.
