The Rio Hondo College Pre-school Laboratory is funded by the State of California, Department of Education State Preschool Program, the Rio Hondo College General Fund and parent fees. The Pre-School Laboratory centers on the new California Preschool Standards (Learning Foundations and Curriculum Frameworks) which align with the California Kindergarten standards and tracks the childrens’ academic progress utilizing the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP).
There are part time and full time enrollment options. Government subsidized enrollment is available to families that qualify according to their income and family size. Fee based enrollment is also available to families that do not qualify for state assistance.
The Pre-School Laboratory is also funded by the USDA Child Food Program in order to offer breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack each day for the children prepared onsite. The monthly menu includes foods that are low in salt and sugar and provide the balanced nutrients that preschool children need to reach optimal physical development and establish healthy eating habits.

Rio Hondo College Pre-school Laboratory located at the Child Development Center is open to any eligible family regardless of race, creed, color, religion, national origin, age, ancestry or handicapping condition, including such conditions as AIDS, HIV positive and cancer.
