 CPat Test

CPat Basic Skills Test

Who is required to take the test?
Postsecondary students who do not have a high school diploma, or its equivalent (GED), have to pass an independently administered examination that has been approved by the Secretary of Education before receiving Federal Financial Assistance, which has been effective July 1, 1991.

Test Content
The CPat Test is a short form measure of adult language and math skills which are generally taught in high school. The test is used to identify students who can successfully handle the fundamental written and computational requirements of any career training program or entry level job. The verbal and quantitative sections of the test have a testing time of 20 minutes each. An additional 10 minutes is required to complete the demographic information on the answer sheet. The U.S. Department of Education has mandated that all applicants taking the test and are applying for Financial Aid, must achieve a verbal score no less than 200 and a quantitative score no less than 210.

Retesting
In some circumstances an applicant may need to be retested when the minimum test score is below the standard measurement. The test can be repeated once a month.

Where is the test administered?
The test is administered in the Business Office, Room B113 as a walk-in testing.  Hours are listed below.
