ABOUT HEALTH SERVICES

The Student Health Office Program is designed to assist the student as a total person: physical, mental and emotional. Our major goals are (1) to help students achieve and maintain total health so they may accomplish academic/vocational goals and (2) to educate students to take responsibility for their own health. The Student Health Center staff includes registered nurses, medical doctors, psychologists, psychology interns, and allied health staff that are trained to assist students who have medical, health and life problems. 

SERVICES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

  • First aid care for accidents and other emergencies

  • Diagnosis and treatment of short-term medical problems

  • Medication dispensed and/or prescriptions ordered by M.D. OR NP

  • Laboratory tests

  • Free and low cost immunizations

  • Hepatitis B immunizations

  • Hearing/vision exams, blood pressure checks, height and weight measurement

  • Gynecology clinic offering pap smears, breast exams and contraceptive counseling

  • Referrals for special tests, i.e., STD and mammograms, Ortho Referrals

  • Health consultations (i.e., nutrition, exercise, stress and time management) and education;
    Cardiovascular risks reduction: BP Monitoring, Cholesterol Management.

  • Sick room available

  • Over-the-counter medications available for minor illnesses

  • Psychological services available 40 hours/week provided by a clinical psychologist by appointment only.
