SCHEC Evening
Mini-fairs: 20 to 40 representatives from CSU, UC & private schools
come to Rio Hondo College and provide students information on admissions,
financial aid, housing, etc. There are two evening fairs each year.
Evening fairs are from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Transfer Day
Fair: This fair involves 40 - 60 representatives from UC, CSU, private
and out of state schools. Representatives are on hand to give out information
about their colleges. There are three a year, from 10 a.m. to 1:00
p.m.

University
orientations and tours: These are free to all students. Transportation is
provided for students who would like to get a closer look
at their transfer school. Information on financial aid and
admission major requirements are given at the orientation, and a tour of the campus follows.

Workshops:
Workshops on completing admission applications/essays and preparing for transfer to the university
system are offered throughout the year. The workshops are conducted
by university representatives from UC, CSU and private schools, including
USC.

Individual
Appointments: Students can make individual appointments to see university representatives of their choice. Appointments are usually
20-30 minutes long. This is a good opportunity for students to
talk with a representative one-on-one concerning their classes, major, financial
aid, admissions, etc. Students unofficial transcripts are provided for the session.

College DVD and CDs: There are a variety of college DVD/CD for students to view which provide information on financial
aid, admissions, and special programs.

Applications: Applications for private schools such
as USC, La Verne, Whittier, and Biola are available.
The CSU application can be accessed at
www.CSUmentor.edu . The UC application can be accessed at
www.universityofcalifornia.edu/apply . Both CSU and UC no longer
print paper applications as of Fall 2006.

Catalogs: The center has all of the 23 CSU and 10 UC catalogs for students to use. Community
colleges and other four-year universities catalogs, out-of-state and in-state, are also available.

Computers:
There are four computers available with internet access for students to use.
Students may access www.assist.org and utilize the Eureka college
program. Students may use the computers for transfer; filing an
application, completing financial aid, etc.

Reference
books: Students can access a variety of college reference books such as Index
of Majors, Accredited Institutions and the College Handbook.
