Upon completion, graduates will have the opportunity to find employment in the wind industry

This course is for anyone interested in entering the wind industry as a technician

turbine technician. In response to the demand for trained entry level wind technicians

this course offers a complete program designed to prepare new wind turbine technicians

for an entry-level position. Upon completion students will be able to diagnose,

service, and maintain a wind turbine.

Certifications/Completion Cards Received After Successful Completion: 10 Hour

OSHA Construction Safety Card, CPR/First Aid/AED Card, Utility Wind Technician

Entry Level Certification.

• Introduction to the Wind Industry and OSHA Required Safety

• First Aid and CPR, Tower Rescue, and Safety in the Wind Park

• Electrical Measurement Safety, Multimeters, Amp Clamps,

Voltage Pens, Megohmmeters, Infrared Testers, and O Scopes

• Schematics and Direct Current Theory

• Alternating Current Theory

• 50 Volts and Higher Safety, ElectroStatic Discharge, Compressed Gases, and Basic

Hydraulics

• Concept of Electronics, Fiber Optics, and Soldering

• Wind Turbine Mechanical Systems, Torquing and Fasteners, and Wind Turbine

Electrical Systems

• OLC’s and Control Algorithms, Substations and Transformers

• Turbine Maintenance Practices, Troubleshooting Techniques, and Service Reporting

• Rotor Construction and Airfoils, Fiber Glass Repairs, Blade Pitch and Balancing

• SCADA and Data Analysis, Meteorology, and Wind Turbine Power Curves
