Support Services Program
Educational Advisement:
We have an
educational advisor on site to help students with their Academic, Career, and
Transfer questions or concerns.
Individual
and Group Tutoring:
Our friendly staff
provides free tutoring to our SSS students in different subjects such as math,
English, computer technology, reading, music, economics, history and political
science.
College Success Workshops:
During the school year, we offer different
workshops to help students succeed in college such as, Self-esteem Building,
Time Management, Test Taking Anxiety, Stress Management, College Study Skills,
Financial Aid, College Success Skills and many more!!!
Financial Assistance: Students who qualify received a $400 grant per
year.
Transfer Assistance:
Every semester we offer field trips to Colleges &
Universities, Transfer workshops, and Admission Application Assistance.

Priority Registration:
We offer early registration for classes each
semester (including summer).
Laptop Loan Program:
Students are offered a laptop for three weeks per
semester.
Supplies Provided:
Throughout the year we offer supplies to our
students which include: a notebook, scrantrons, pens, pencil, highlighters,
bluebooks, and CDs.
Upward Bound Program

Program: A six week program is offered during July and August. Students may
earn college credit, take enrichment classes, participate in field trips,
receive tutoring, educational advisement, lunch, and may receive a cash stipend.
Academic Year:
After
School Tutoring:
Weekly
afterschool tutoring sessions conducted by Paraprofessional Tutors in math,
science, English, history, etc.
Saturday
Academy:
Students take
Upward Bound enrichment courses in math, literature, composition, foreign
language and science. Students also have the option of enrolling in a Rio Hondo
College course to earn college credit.
Field Trips:
Our program provides educational, social and
cultural events throughout the year such as visits to colleges/universities,
museums, plays and much more!
College and Career Advising:
The Upward
Bound staff assists students with college preparation including completion of
A-G requirements, SAT/ACT preparation, financial aid assistance and scholarship
searches. Students receive career advisement in the form of guest speakers,
career exploration and industry visits.
