Rio Hondo Men's Basketball
Season Opening Victory
Rio opens with a win over Mira Costa 74-69. An overall
great team effort brings the Roadrunners their first victory of the season.
Ryan Jefferson led the way with 19 points, Steven Steward hit a 3 pointer with
1:44 left to break a tie score, Willie Duff got two huge offensive rebounds in
the last 2 minutes and Nathan Mohri sank two free throws with 10.7 seconds left
to seal the win. Freshman DeWayne O'Neal also led us in rebounding with 12
and he threw down a monster dunk to bring us to within 2 with 2:31 left.
Mira Costa falls to 2-2 and Rio is 1-0, hope to see you at the game next week.
Don't forget next week we will be hosting ELAC at 3:00 on
Tuesday with the women's team taking on Bakersfield at 5:00. These are the
"Toys for Tots" games this year, please bring a new toy to be distributed to
needy children in the area by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves out of Pico Rivera.
Admission is free with a toy, we hope to see you at the game.
