Meet Review
It
was an awesome finish for the Rio Hondo men’s and women’s teams
at the State Cross Country Championships in Fresno. The men finished
a best in school history 4th overall led by Sophomore
Ruben Martinez (6th overall) in a school record time of
20:26. Next, was sophomore Ulises Lorenzo (22nd) in
20:59, followed closely by Sophomore Ervin Romo (32nd) in
21:07, next, was freshman Eddie Aguilar (68th) 21:34,
freshmen Eli Canchola (78th) 21:41, Freshman Miguel
Dorantes (128th) 22:16, and Damian Garcia (152nd)
22:35.
The
women also capped off a great season qualifying to state for the
first time in school history and placing 15th overall.
Leading the way of the all freshmen Rio Hondo team was freshman
Ashley Huizar 20:05 (70th), followed by Melissa Cortes
20:11 (76th), next was Lupe DeAlba 20:24 (88th)
, Roxy Raigosa 20:33 (99th), Khai Soong 21:45 (146th),
Lizette Guzman 22:37 (170th), and Ashley Martinez 22:52
(175th).

Men and Women's
Cross Country Summary
It was a great day for
the Rio Hondo Cross Country teams as both the Men
and Women qualified to the State Championships in
Fresno Nov. 22nd. On the men's side, Ulises Lorenzo
kept close to the front with the lead pack through 3
miles with Ruben Maritnez right behind, they helped
secure 7th place as a team with Ruben 4th and Ulises
(6th) overall finish (the top 14 individuals medal).
Eddie Aguilar was 3rd man (58th) Ervin Romo (60th),
and Eli Canchola (117th) rounded out the scoring 5.
On the womens side,
leading her team again to 13th qualifying place as a
team was Roxy Raigosa (59th) followed by Lupe DeAlba
(63rd) Ashley Huizar (71) Melissa Cortes (72) and
Ashley Martinez (134th) for the team's 5th scorer.
There were several fast times for both teams with
one jump to make leading to the state meet. The
teams will train through this weekend and be ready
for an exciting day in Fresno November 22nd.
The men's team placed 7th
and the women's team placed 13th. Both teams will
run in Fresno on November 22.
