The Rio Hondo Men's Soccer Program is one of the finest
programs in the Foothill Conference and Southern California. Coach Orlando
Brenes has put together 3 Foothill Conference Championship Teams in a row. Rio
Hondo has won the conference title in 2002, 2003, and 2004. Along with those
championships have been the accomplishments of individual athletes including
All-American Selections and All Far West selections. Many of Rio Hondo's players
have gone on to Collegiate careers and Professional Careers. If you would like

NOVEMBER 2- Rio Hondo Men's Soccer Co-Champions of the
foothill conference. For the 3rd year in a row Rio Hondo wins the Foothill
Conference Championship. Rio won 15 games in the season, only to suffer a tough
defeat in the 1st round of the playoffs vs. Palomar. Rio Hondo players owned the
conference stats. CARLOS LOPEZ, forward had 19 goals and 7 assists to lead all
conference scorers throughout the season. Scott Loveless and Gabriel Barriga led
all conference Goal Keepers with less than .70 goals allowed per game.
Congratulations to the Rio Hondo Men on their conference championship.
OCTOBER 25- RIO HONDO LEADS THE FOOTHILL CONFERENCE.
With a win over Chaffey College to avenge their only Conference loss of the
season, the Roadrunners have moved into first place in the foothill conference
with 2 games remaining.
September 1- RIO DEFEATS ORANGE
COAST COLLEGE 3-2 TO START THE SEASON 3-0. GOALS FOR RIO CARLOS LOPEZ
SCORED 2 GOALS IN THE FIRST HALF OF THE GAME SCORE AT HALF 2-1 . THEIR GOAL CAME
AS RESULT OF A OWN GOAL SCORED BY OUR OWN DEFENDER. SECOND HALF WAS MUCH MORE
INTENSE THEY SCORED WITH 20 MIN. LEFT IN THE GAME. ON A CROSS BALL INTO THE BOX
POOR CLEARING ON THE PART OF DEFENSE AND OCC HAD THE EQUALIZER .THE MIGHTY
ROADRUNNERS WERE NOT TO BE DENIED AND SCORED THE WINNING GOAL WITH 8 MINS LEFT
IN GAME. ON A WONDERFUL PLAY BY JONATHAN RAMIREZ TO ASSIST THE FROM THE
WING SIDE BY A DEFENDER AND CENTERING THE BALL TO MARTIN GALVAN FOR THE WINNING
GOAL WITH 8 MINS TO GO IN THE GAME. STATS RIO 13 SHOTS ON GOAL OCC HAD 7.KEEPER
SAVES RIO HAD 1 TO OCC 4. CORNER KICKS RIO 6 OCC I. NEXT GAME TUES.

August 31- Rio defeated Mt. Sac in it's
2nd game of the season 4-0
August 27- In Rio's first game of the
season the Men's Soccer team defeated Glendale College 2-0. GOALS SCORED BY # 11
RICHARD GALVAN ASSITED BY #18 CARLOS LOPEZ ON THE FIRST GOAL. THE SECOND GOAL
WAS ASSITED BY # 2 MARTIN GALVAN.STASTICALLY, RIO HAD 18 SHOTS TO GLENDALES 10.
KEEPERS SAVES 4 FOR RIO AND 7 FOR GLENDALE,CORNERS 9 FOR RIO AND 2 FOR GLENDALE.
The Roadrunner Soccer team finished the 2002 season with a
Conference record of 6-1-1 making them the 2002 Foothill Conference Champions.

Congratulations to Juan Carlos
Bolanos, 1997-98 ALL AMERICAN while at Rio Hondo. Juan went
on to earn a scholarship to CSU Dominguez Hills, and in 2000 earned ALL
AMERICAN honors at Dominguez, NCAA Division 2 Soccer Player of the Year, and
helped lead the Toros to WINNING the NCAA Div. 2 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. Juan
is now playing professional soccer in Costa Rica.
