Astronomy Department Overview

Astronomy is the study of celestial objects like moons, planets, stars, solar systems, nebulae, galaxies, and galactic clusters. While traditionally astronomers looked through telescopes, today they are likely to be at a computer guiding ground-based and space-based instruments and observe the universe with not just the light we see, but in all regions of the electromagnetic spectrum including radio waves, infrared and ultraviolet radiation, and X-rays and gamma rays.
