Train to Serve the Public Good

The training academies within the Administration of Justice and Fire Technology Division will give you credentials for promotions and solid skills to help you thrive in today’s criminal justice, emergency management, and fire safety organizations.

Fire Academy

The Río Hondo College Fire Academy is a 16-week (Monday through Friday) program, meeting the California State Fire Marshal Requirements for Firefighter – 1 and 2.

Police Academy

The Police Academy program provides the academic skills, practical scenario training, physical training, and discipline to prepare you for a career in law enforcement or other public safety disciplines.

Truck Academy

The Río Hondo Regional Truck Academy is an intensive, 11-day (88-hour) training course designed for the Professional Firefighter only and not open to the general public.

Wildland Fire Academy

The Wildland Fire Academy (WFA) is designed to prepare applicants to operate safely and adapt quickly as entry level wildland fire fighters.
