Financial aid disbursements at Río Hondo College are scheduled throughout the semester to ensure students have access to financial resources to cover tuition, fees, and educational expenses.

Financial aid disbursements will first be applied to any outstanding balances for the term, and any credit balance will be refunded directly to students via Bank Mobile disbursements.

Bank Mobile offers the following refund methods for eligible students:

  • Direct deposit via ACH to your current savings or checking – Preferred and quickest refund method
  • Paper check mailed to the address on file at Rio Hondo College – May take up to 10 business days to receive
  • Direct deposit into a Bank Mobile Vibe Checking account – Requires account opening through Bank Mobile and fees may apply

NOTE: Disbursement dates below are subject to change, without notice.

Disbursement Dates

Enrollment Status and Eligibility

Initial award amounts are based on full-time enrollment. If enrolled in less than 12-units for a semester, disbursements are prorated based on your level of enrollment.

If students drop units after receiving financial aid, future disbursement amounts may be affected.

Students on Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Warning or Probation status

Disbursement will be delayed for students with a SAP status of Warning or Probation as grades from the previous semester must be posted and academic standing calculated prior to determining continued eligibility.

For more information, visit Financial Aid Polices.

Drops and Withdrawals

Students withdrawing from all their classes for a semester, without re-enrolling in courses for the same semester, may owe federal aid funds back to the U.S. Department of Education. Students will be notified via email if a balance is due.

For more information, contact the Rio Hondo College Financial Aid Office.

Expired Refund Checks

Electronic Checks will expire after 90 days. Students must notify the financial aid office to request reissue of funds. Direct deposit is strongly encouraged. Funds will be returned to the appropriate source after the expiration date.
