DRUG STUDIES

ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE DEGREE
BEHAVIORAL & SOCIAL SCIENCES DIVISION

The following curriculum meets the requirement for an Associate of Science Degree in Drug Studies. The Drug Studies Program is accredited by the California Association of Alcohol and Drug Educators (CAADE). The courses needed for the degree are designed for those who wish to transfer to a four-year institution and pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or other discipline that serves as preparation for a career in the helping professions.

Student Learning Outcomes (SLO)
  • Upon completion of the Drug Studies degree students will demonstrate an understanding of concepts, theories and techniques that are foundational to the practice of addiction treatment.
  • Upon completion of the Drug Studies degree students will demonstrate an understanding of assessment methods, treatment planning and case management.
  • Upon completion of the Drug Studies degree students will demonstrate an understanding of recovery oriented behavior in addiction treatment management.
  • Upon completion of the Drug Studies degree students will demonstrate an understanding of ethical practices in addiction treatment.

To acquire an Associate of Science Degree in Drug Studies, it is necessary to complete the graduation requirements of the college and the following courses with a grade of “C” or better.
