The following Presidential Search Timeline outlines the key steps and milestones in the process to identify the next Superintendent/President of Río Hondo College. This timeline was formally approved by the Board of Trustees on July 9, 2025, and reflects a structured, transparent, and inclusive approach that invites participation from the entire College community and the public.
- June 18, 2025: Board discussion on process, draft timeline, search committee membership, search liaison, and compensation.
- July 9, 2025: Board announces Superintendent/President Search. Progress Report #1 is distributed college-wide. The Board announces August 6, 2025 as the deadline for Board Members and Constituent Groups to submit representatives to serve on the Presidential Search Committee. Those who agree to serve must attend all three search committee meetings in person.
- August 6, 2025: Deadline at noon for Board Members and Constituent Groups to submit nominations to serve on the Presidential Search Committee. Nominations should be submitted to Ms. Renee Gallegos.
- August 13, 2025: Board of Trustees approves Presidential Search Committee members. Progress Report #2 is distributed. An electronic survey is released to gather feedback from the College and community regarding desired characteristics and qualifications for the next Superintendent/President of Río Hondo College.
- September 4, 2025: ACCT Search Consultants facilitate a series of virtual open Public Forums (Administrators, Staff, Faculty, Students, and Community Members invited) to solicit feedback for the draft Presidential Profile. Sessions: 9:00 AM, Noon, and 4:00 PM.
- September 9, 2025: Presidential Search Committee Meeting #1 – Training and Orientation. Committee receives, reviews, and edits the draft Presidential Profile. (In-person meeting: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
- September 10, 2025: Board of Trustees discusses, edits, and finalizes the Presidential Profile.
- September 12, 2025: Superintendent/President Profile is posted at riohondo.edu and acctsearches.org. Recruitment and national advertising commence.
- October 20, 2025: Target date for receipt of applications. Position remains open until filled.
- October 22–30, 2025: Search Committee members independently review confidential applications on the ACCT secure web portal.
- November 3, 2025: Search Committee Meeting #2 – discussion and selection of approximately 7–9 semifinalists. (In-person meeting: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
- November 13–14, 2025: Search Committee Meeting #3 – confidential interviews with semifinalists. Committee selects 3–4 finalists. (In-person meeting: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
- November 24–25, 2025: Finalists participate in open public forums, meet with direct reports, and tour the campus.
- December 1, 2025: Final candidates interview with the full Board of Trustees. The Board deliberates and selects a first-choice candidate.
- December 2–5, 2025: Optional but recommended: the Board conducts a site visit to the first-choice candidate’s institution.
- December 10, 2025: Board meets to approve and announce the next Superintendent/President of Río Hondo College.
- January 2, 2026: Start date or as agreed upon by the Superintendent/President-elect and the Board of Trustees.
