The following Presidential Search Timeline outlines the key steps and milestones in the process to identify the next Superintendent/President of Río Hondo College. This timeline was approved by the Board of Trustees on February 18, 2026, and reflects a structured, transparent, and inclusive approach that invites participation from the entire College community and the public.
January 12, 2026: Superintendent/President Search Committee EEO Meeting. (Mandatory: In Person Meeting: 2 hours, 9AM-11AM)
January 26, 2026: Superintendent/President Search Committee Re-Orientation: Review committee charge, confidentiality, and discussion of timeline, next steps, etc. RHC Attorney joins for the discussion of AP 2431. (Mandatory: In Person Meeting: 2:00 – 5:00 pm)
January 26 – Feb. 2, 2026: Superintendent/President Search Committee members have the option to revisit/revise scoring on original applications. ACCT portal closes at noon on Feb. 2, 2026.
February 5, 2026: Superintendent/President Search Committee Meeting; discussion and selection of approximately 7–9 confidential semifinalist candidates; finalize interview questions. (Mandatory In Person Meeting: 9:00am – 3:00pm)
March 18 – 19, 2026: Superintendent/President Search Committee Meeting; Committee members meet in-person to hold confidential interviews with semifinalists. After all semifinalists are interviewed, the Committee deliberates and selects 4 – 6 finalists to forward to the Board for further consideration. (Mandatory In Person Meeting: 8:30am – 5:30pm each day)
Week of April 6, 2026: Final candidates participate in open public forums at Río Hondo College, meet with direct reports; and tour the College Campus. Final candidates interview with the full Board of Trustees. Board members deliberate and select the first-choice candidate.
April 15, 2026: Board to conduct a site visit to the first-choice candidate’s institution; optional but recommended.
April 29, 2026: Board meets to approve and announce the next Superintendent/President of Río Hondo College.
June 1, 2026: Start date or as agreed upon by the Superintendent/President-elect and Board of Trustees
