Fully Online Programs and 4-Week Accelerated Classes Coming Spring 2026

Posted on November 6, 2025 by Río Hondo College | Category: College News,Homepage News

Beginning in Spring 2026, Río Hondo College will offer students even more ways to achieve their academic and career goals with the launch of fully online degree and certificate programs and new accelerated 4-week courses designed for busy adults who need flexibility without sacrificing quality.

At Río Hondo, we understand that many students balance multiple responsibilities such as work, family and personal commitments and need learning options that fit their lives. Our new fully online programs make it possible to learn on your schedule from anywhere in the world using any device. Whether you are advancing in your current career, exploring a new field or returning to complete your education, you can expect the same academic excellence, expert faculty support and sense of connection that define the Río Hondo experience. These programs are designed to help students “reach new heights” by combining accessibility, quality and the College’s long-standing commitment to equity and inclusion.

In addition to fully online programs, the College is introducing an innovative Accelerated Classes Program, allowing students to focus on one course at a time through short 4-week, fully online, asynchronous classes. This fast-paced structure offers the flexibility to complete courses more quickly while maintaining the same academic rigor. Each student will receive personalized guidance from counselors who are dedicated to helping them plan their educational path, stay on track and graduate efficiently. The program’s design reflects the College’s mission to serve adult learners who seek to move forward in their careers and education without putting their lives on hold.

For those who have already gained valuable experience in the workplace, military or through professional training, the College’s Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) program provides an opportunity to turn that experience into college credit. CPL recognizes the skills and knowledge students have acquired outside the classroom and applies them toward a degree or certificate, helping them save both time and money. This initiative underscores the College’s belief that learning happens in many forms and that every student’s journey is unique and valuable. Students interested in learning more can contact the CPL Counselor at [email protected] or call (562) 908-3407 for personalized support.

Beyond the classroom, the College ensures that every online learner has access to the same high-quality student support services available on campus. Through its Virtual Wraparound Services, students can connect with academic counseling, tutoring, financial aid assistance and mental health support, all from the comfort of their own homes. This holistic approach to student success aligns with the College’s mission to advance social justice and equity by providing accessible pathways for all learners.

Applying to Río Hondo College is simple and entirely online. New students can begin by completing the admission application, applying for financial aid through FAFSA or the California Dream Act, meeting with a counselor to plan their courses and enrolling in classes. Whether you are beginning your higher education journey or returning to finish a degree, the College provides the tools, flexibility and encouragement you need to succeed.

As an institution that aspires to be an evolving, community-focused College that embraces diversity, equity and inclusion, Río Hondo continues to expand opportunities for students to learn in ways that match their goals and lifestyles. With fully online programs, accelerated 4-week courses and credit for prior learning, the College is redefining what it means to access a high-quality education that works for everyone.

Your future is waiting. Take the next step and discover how Río Hondo College can help you reach new heights. Together, we’ll get you where you want to go.
